Comments: whether this painting was done in color or not, it still looks amazing, and I finds look much more appreciative in black and white as I use my imagination to do the coloring =)...
p.s I find this website very useful for my research for fine art.
    Thank you!

Comments: it is in black and white because the origanal was destroyed in WW2, and they aren't sure exactly how the colors should be

Comments: The reason the piece is in black and white is because the original was destroyed. this is just a reproduction of what we think it looks like.

Comments: this reproduction comes from an old photograph, that's why its black and white. and yes, it was destroyed in ww2.

Comments: I saw this painting in my first art history course this term. Big untrained, inexperienced enthusiast am I.. the colored film copy she had for the projection was incredible!! Now I'm looking to find a copy of the original for myself.. anybody got any ideas of any books it might be in?

Comments: I think this painting is amazing. The way Mantegna managed to convey a sense of perspective is extraudinary. There is so much comotion and yet the eye always leads you to the man kneeling down.
