Comments: Interesting how this portrait seems to support the recent theory of the painter David Hockney, that ancient painters used optical instruments like the convex mirror, which is actually able to project an upside down reflection of a view in a small window.

Comments: A beautiful piece, highly naturalistic with such a precise attention to accuracy of the depiction of light+ shade, texture and colour.shows exactly why this man changed Venetian portrait.Even if we are to believe the teory about projection, it is still painted with the utmost realism.
