    Comments: Active life-the oboli fot Charon are in his left palm: the fantastic mask on his chest has bat ears and his delicate sensitive hands lie listlessly on his batton which he will never again usde to command- a role he had in active life (similar to that of a Roman General). His head is alert yet world- weary, sad expression of a powerful mortal on the brink of death. Listening to a sudden call lookin towards the Madonna. His strange armour looks transparent because we can see clearly his torso in detail- the armour is like a ghostly thing.

    Comments: To a student of life drawing, this sculpture looks quite odd;the neck is unusually long and the head appears too small in proportion to the body. One wonders whether this was intentional
