Comments: This contribution from Boticelli is an amazing combination of beauty and divinity. Boticelli used many classical techniques to illustrate a mythological story that expresses the religious theme of rebirth. For this reason, Boticelli was considered, along with Michelangelo, to have paganistic beliefs/views.

Comments: My all-time favorite Boticelli piece. Sandro has done a truly amazing job at capturing the irresistible enchantment of Roman mythology.

Comments: This piece is, by far, my most cherished and appreciated depiction of classic mythology. It entails the beauty, mystery and wisdom the men of the Renaissance belived the ancient Greeks and Romans represented. I have numerous replicas of this particular piece. Each time my 2-year-old daughter looks at Venus from this piece she says "There's my Mommy." I can't put into words the joy I feel to be compared to such a thing of beauty, let alone to be compared to THE Goddess of love!

Comments: This piece just gives me pure joy...everytime i gaze upon this wonderful work of art, i always find small details which i've never seen before...he depicts human form a bit different from reality...the faces may be a bit long and sad...and that makes it more enticing to look at...

Comments: This painting shows the importance of the goddess of love during the Renaissance. Venus is beautifully nude, because the humanist views were so important back then and the human body was being glorified by people. Zephyr and his girl are wonderful in the way that they embrace each other, blowing Venus to shore. One of the three Graces is waiting for Venus with a pink cloth, which will cover her up in the mortal world. This picture is clear, precise, beautiful!

Comments: Hi, I am related to Sandro Botticelli on my grandmother's (Nana Botticelli's) side. All my life I've been brought up with a sentimental and intinate attachment to this "bellissimo" artist. If I catch a strand of hair or just a face of a Botticelli painting in the corner of my eye, I know immediately that it's him... even new ones I had never seen before! I'm doing a paper on him now at Oxford, and I find it impossible to capture the essence of Sandro Botticelli in words. The art speaks for itself. Just to clarify, he was not a pagan spiritually, but a staunch Christian, nominally at least. He followed the great Florentine church reforemer Savanarola, and even destroyed some of his own paintings that were not "kosher." Anyway... keep up the adoration of Sandro, there's a lot more than Venus. Ciao!

Comments: The word beauty is not enough to describe the culmination of life in this work. Botticelli is the greatest genius among the throng of artists in history. Not anywhere in our own lives do we find such a great representation of melancholy, beauty, sorrow and happiness. Yes, I adore this work of art. In our world where artists no longer exist and all art is from long ago, it is comforting to gaze at this true work. Botticelli has more paintings other than this one, too.

Actually Botticelli painted Venus with jeans on a year earlier , they were Levis , and the Wrangler people objected to free advertising . So Sandro re-tooled the painting ( if you will excuse the expression ) and painted this version . I agree with you , there is nothing worse than seeing a semi naked female , but then again I also have trouser legs on my piano legs ............Gordon Fulthorpe

Comments: This painting represents what sandro was all about. He carefully crafts and portrays his own image of venus being born. The use of color and proportion is fantastic. There could have been more work on the background, but overall it was good.

Comments: I lived in Rota Spain for four years, close to the naval base, from 1989 - 1993. I was in the navy exchange and took one glance at this sculpture and knew I had to have it. The sculpture is made of alabaster and the base is made of marble.
I was doing an essay and during my research I stumbled upon this painting and was shocked to find out that I own this amazing piece of art. I had no idea that this beautiful piece of art was famous. Lucky me!
